Get Things Done: Productivity, Goals & Life Priorities

If it’s important to you to get things done each day, you should focus on your productivity, goals and life priorities.

Learning to be more productive is a great way to increase your happiness and satisfaction.

As human beings we’re often too inconsistent in how we invest our time and energy. We are easily distracted and often fall into the trap of living by different priorities every day.

Get things done with clarity

Most people are overwhelmed with the amount of things they have to do and all the interruptions they experience during the day. As a result many people feel that while they work hard and for long hours, they are not accomplishing much, or nothing significant, which leaves them feeling unhappy and frustrated.

One solution is to structure our days in a way that will allow us to focus on the things that are most important to us, and the things that would make the greatest impact on our life.

To do that we first need to clearly identify our goals (including goal setting in our 7 main life categories) and our core values (or life priorities). Most of what we do during the day must help us get closer to an important goal or support a certain value that we want to live by.

For example, if our most important goal right now is to start a business, most of our time, energy, and attention should be spent on activities that relate to this goal. Obviously, our life is comprised of many areas (career, family, heath, relationships, etc.) and we cannot (and should not) ignore all other aspects of our life.

We do however need to identify one or two areas that are most important to us at this time and make sure we are not trying to juggle too many things at the same time, and eventually not being able to make significant progress with any of them.

While we work towards out most important goals we also want to be sure we stay true to our core values.

For example, if staying close to our family is one of our core values, we need to make sure we are proactively allocating the time and do things that will allow us spend more quality time with those we love and care about.

To stay focused and create momentum, schedule the most significant activities first.

Those are the activities that will have the greatest impact towards achieving your goals.

When you sit down to plan your day or week, put goal-oriented and values driven action steps on your to-do list first, and only then add other tasks and obligations.

You only have a finite amount of time each day. Every hour that passes is one less hour you have left to live your dream life.

The Productivity Wizard program is designed to help you set your goals and priorities you daily activities. We invite you to use it daily to stay focused on the things that matter the most.
